TEACHING

As an educator, Samuel is a conductor, chamber music coach, violin teacher and an adjudicator. Samuel has been teaching violin lessons for 14 years. Every student is different and unique in their own ways. Samuel recognizes the importance of patience and encouragement but also understands the importance of discipline and structure. Through violin studies, students can learn creativity, work ethic, precision and sensitivity which are all valuable components in whichever career paths students choose to go into.

Over the past 14 years, Samuel has helped many students to go into music as a career. Samuel encourages all his students to participate in RCM Examinations and local music competitions such as Kiwanis, North York, Unionville and OYMI Music Festivals. Competitions are excellent for keeping students motivated and to have a goal to work toward. Samuel organizes studio concerts that take place 3 times a year in June, September and December which all of Samuel's students are expected to participate in. Most of Samuel's students perform in youth orchestras and chamber groups. Orchestra and chamber music experience is a vital part of music education for string players.

Through this experience, students get a different perspective outside of individual lessons and learn leadership skills, teamwork, ensemble work, musicianship and listening skills. Samuel is grateful to have worked with many incredible students and always welcomes motivated students who are eager to learn into his studio.
